Jewelry Store To Give Free Pendants Away For V-Day

ELK GROVE (CBS13) ―
A business owner trying to soften the blow of this sluggish economy is offering free jewelry to people this Valentine's Day.
It's the sparkle that some couples would love to see on Valentine's Day. A heart pendant valued at $99, for free!
"These are very specific and special for those 100 individuals," says Max Rogers.
Max Rogers owns Max's Gallery in Elk Grove, one of 38 jewelry stores nationwide giving away one hundred heart pendants for Valentine's Day to those who have either lost their jobs or their homes.
"We need to give back to people who might be struggling," says Max.
"You turn on the news and there is no good news for us around here, it was just, it just lit everybody up and kind of changed our moods around here," he tells CBS13.
Max hopes this will change the mood of those in need more than just a little extra love.
"I want to make it special. I want to make it special for the woman who maybe can't afford to buy something for herself, or the man who wants to give a piece of his love on Valentine's Day," Max explains.
Max says the giveaway will start at 9 a.m. Valentine's Day morning, and it is on a first come first serve basis.
Max says if you want one of these free pendants, you have to bring an ID and proof that you're out of a job or that you've lost your home.
